Dedicated to sustainable agriculture, the region’s Mayan descendants grow coffee in a natural environment shaded by forests of evergreen oaks, pines, liquidambars, cypresses, mundanis, and ingas. Only mature, ripe beans of the highest quality are chosen, and are carefully handpicked and washed, then dried over wood fires. Only “strictly hard bean”—the highest grade of coffee beans—are selected for the rare Aurora Gold brand. The entire cycle of coffee production is designed to maintain the sustainable cycles of nature, with facilities for storing the unused bean pulp for use as fertilizer, and for cleansing and restoring the water used to process the beans so that it can be returned to environment without upsetting the local ecology. Until now, all of this unique heirloom Arabica coffee has been bought for the Japanese market; but now Urth Caffé has secured a supply for our customers. We are delighted to introduce Urth Caffé Aurora Gold coffee: A rare coffee that has been allowed to fully ripen before picking, creating a fine flavor with spicy chocolate nuances, bright citrus tones and a lush body.
