On the slopes of the Virunga volcanoes of Uganda, between 7,500 to 9,000 feet above sea level, the world’s highest altitude for growing coffee, pure heirloom bourbon and Typica Blue Mountain trees produce perhaps one of the rarest coffees in the world. Deep in the nearby forest lives the world’s most endangered ape, the Mountain Gorilla. This fine coffee is produced by The Mountain Gorilla Coffee Estate™ project exclusively for Urth Caffé, and has never been exported out of Uganda, Congo and Rwanda before now. Urth Caffé Mountain Gorilla Coffee™ Extra Fancy Grade is produced from less than 1% of the entire crop, triple hand sorted, from pure heirloom coffee trees. The flavor is completely unique, derived from the high altitude, heirloom trees, volcanic soil, and careful organic practices. Mountain Gorilla Coffee™ has a floral, vanilla aroma, sweet acidity, dark cocoa, and herbal flavor.
